Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational & Technical Qualification:

  • 10th Pass: Candidates must have passed the 10th class examination or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% (aggregate) marks from a recognized Board.
  • ITI / NTC: Must possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the designated trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT).
  • Note: Candidates awaiting ITI/NTC results or those who failed are NOT eligible. Engineering Graduates and Diploma Holders are also strictly NOT ELIGIBLE.

2. Employment Exchange Registration (Mandatory):

  • Candidates must have registered their names with the local Employment Exchange. Preference will be given to candidates registered within the State of Karnataka.
  • Exception: Wards of Serving Railway Employees do not need Employment Exchange registration but must route applications through their Controlling Officials.

3. Age Limit (As on 01/03/2026):

  • Minimum Age: 15 Years
  • Maximum Age: 24 Years
  • Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates, and 3 years for OBC candidates.

Note: As per the Act, it is not obligatory on the part of the Railways to offer any permanent employment to the Apprentices on completion of their training.

Selection Process

  • The selection will be purely on a merit basis.
  • A merit list will be prepared based on the percentage of marks obtained in the 10th Std / Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate required). Marks of all subjects will be reckoned.
  • Tie-breaking Rule: In case of two candidates having the same marks, the candidate with older age shall be preferred. If dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed the 10th standard earlier will be considered first.
  • Final selection is subject to Document Verification and passing the prescribed Medical Fitness exam certified by a Govt. authorized doctor.

Documents Required (Self-Attested Photocopies)

Ensure the following documents are enclosed with the offline application form:

  1. 10th Std / Matriculation marks certificate (showing at least 50% marks and Date of Birth).
  2. National Trade Certificate (NTC) issued by NCVT.
  3. Valid Caste Certificate (Annexure-B for SC/ST, Annexure-C for OBC).
  4. Physically Handicapped / Disability Certificate (if applicable).
  5. Employment Exchange Registration card (with valid current renewal).
  6. Wards of serving Railway employees must submit Annexure-D.
  7. Two identical passport-size photographs (duly self-attested and stitched in a separate cover) apart from the one pasted on the form.
  8. IPO / Demand Draft of ₹100/- (if applicable).

How to Apply Offline for RWF Apprentice 2026

  1. Visit the official website: rwf.indianrailways.gov.in and download the official notification PDF containing the Application Form.
  2. Print the Application Form (Annexure-A) and the Checklist (Annexure-F). No other format will be entertained.
  3. Fill in all the details accurately in block letters. Ensure your name and parents’ names match your 10th certificate exactly.
  4. Affix a recent color passport-size photograph and sign across it.
  5. Attach the IPO/DD (fee) and all required self-attested document photocopies.
  6. Fill out and sign the Checklist (Annexure-F). Applications without this will be rejected.
  7. Superscribe the envelope as: “Application for undergoing training under the Apprentices’ Act, 1961 for the year 2025-26 in Rail Wheel Factory”.
