Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification:

You must have one of these:

A) If you have a Degree (BSc Nursing) BSc (Hons.) Nursing / BSc Nursing, or Post-Basic BSc Nursing (also called Post-Certificate) Your college must be approved by the Indian Nursing Council or State Nursing Council. You must be registered as Nurse and Midwife with the State Nursing Council or Indian Nursing Council.

B)If you have a Diploma (GNM)GNM Diploma from an approved institute/board. You must be registered as Nurse and Midwife.You must have 2 years of work experience in a hospital with at least 50 beds.

Important about Experience The 2 years experience must be counted after you finish the course, your result is declared, and you get official registration with the Nursing Council.

2. Age Limit (As on 16.03.2026):

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years
  • Maximum Age: 30 Years

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 Years
  • OBC: 3 Years
  • PwBD: 10 Years (13 years for OBC, 15 years for SC/ST)
  • Other relaxations for Ex-Servicemen and Central Govt. Civilian Employees are applicable as per detailed General Conditions.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates will receive an attractive salary package as per the 7th Pay Commission:

  • Pay Scale: Pay Level-07 in the Pay Matrix.
  • Pre-revised Scale: Pay Band-2 of ₹9300-34800 with a Grade Pay of ₹4600/-.
  • Allowances: Usual allowances as admissible to Central Government Servants of similar status stationed at respective cities of the Institutes/Hospitals.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The selection will be purely based on the candidate’s performance in the Computer Based Test (CBT). It is conducted in two stages:

Stage I: NORCET Preliminary (Qualifying Test)

  • Type: 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • Duration: 90 minutes.
  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Note: Stage I is purely qualifying in nature to shortlist candidates for Stage II.

Stage II: NORCET Mains (Merit-Deciding Test)

  • Type: 160 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) focusing on nursing scenarios, clinical applications, and skills.
  • Duration: 180 minutes (3 hours).
  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Note: Final selection and merit will be strictly based on the marks obtained in the Stage II Mains exam + choices exercised + eligibility verification.
